I have had a passion for art and animation ever since the first time I watched “The Little Mermaid” as a child and practiced drawing Ariel in front of the TV. (Didn’t every kid do that?) Today, I feel so blessed to be able to spend my days working on logos, character designs, children’s book illustrations, animations and more. My passion for creating scribbles and sparking ideas turned into ScribbleSpark Studios!
I grew up in a tiny mountain town in California near Yosemite, often following my dad to his work at a computer game company. There, I watched artists and animators collaborate each day, and was inspired to pursue a creative career of my own. I’ll never forget sitting in the studio, watching “elves” and “princesses” record their lines while I colored on copies of their character model sheets. It was an exciting, whimsical world that I wanted to be a part of too!
While attending CSU Northridge and The Art Institute and getting my degree in animation, I honed my character illustration skills teaching people how to draw Mickey and his friends in the Animation Academy at the Disneyland Resort. This gave me a chance to really learn “the Disney style,” something that many of my clients request! I specialize in character design and illustration with a family-friendly feel.
I am constantly learning and studying my field in order to sharpen my skills. That means I’m up on blogs, taking video tutorials, sketching on my iPad, and reading books daily. I also have a second career as a voice actor, which gives me lots of chances to see the latest trends in animation, and expand my imagination even more! It gives me a unique working knowledge of the entertainment industry and its needs.
In my spare time, I enjoy riding horses, singing along to Disney songs and showtunes at the top of my lungs, and cuddling with my two rambunctious little sons.
I guess you could say that I live in cartoon land…and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
